49 Motorsports were able to take the GTD Overall Championship title this last weekend at Road Atlanta. Dexter Castro and Jere Jänis drove their BMW Z4 to a second place finish ahead of their championship rivals of Online-SimRacing.de. After the race, winners Hammer Down Racing were excluded from the final results due to a breach of the maximum drive time which bumped 49 Motorsports onto the top step of the podium, Online-SimRacing.de to P2 and Sweet Spot Racing up on the final step of the podium.

After battling with connection issues throughout the first half of the race, Castro was able to drive the needed amount before putting Jänis back in the car to finish out the race. In the final 45 minutes of the race, Online-SimRacing.de found themselves in the perfect position to win the championship as they were in P1 with Hammer Down Racing in P2 and 49 Motorsports in P3. After numerous of laps a very hard fought battles, between all three teams Online-SimRacing.de was not able to do what they needed to do but no one could say they went out without a hard fight.
