As registration has now been open for just over a week, we are currently just over 1/3 of the maximum grid. We have seen a mixed combination of returning teams and new teams join the series as well as returning teams expanding. Out of the 22 entries, we have 4 Prototypes, 7 GT entries, and 11 GTC entries. Let's take a look at how the entries span out with the different classes of both the already registered and possible entries that we know of right now:
Prototype
Registered (4 cars):
BerlinSimSport (1 car): New to DGFX in 2017, BerlinSimSport will be taking their first ever team series in the HPD. While they have plenty of experience in the team races with VLN, Blancpain, and GES to name a few, BerlinSimSport have only run the prototype in the occasional official series races. While they may not be the favorites, they could surprise many by the end of the season.
RoadBasterds (1 car): Returning to the series in 2017, the former named team of OnlineSimracing.de has expanded from a 2 car effort at the end of last season to a 4 car effort for 2017. They will remain in the Prototype class with one car however a new driver lineup for the entry. While the speed of the drivers is unknown, they could easily battle for podiums as they did last season.
Saulerland Racing (1 car): Another new contender to DGFX, Saulerland Racing will be making their debut in the Prototype class. While not new to endurance racing, Saulerland Racing is unknown in their prototype efforts. The German squad has young talent though eager to make a name for themselves in DGFX.
Torque Freak Racing (1 car): While new to DGFX, Torque Freak Racing is in no way new to multi-class endurance racing. Currently competing in both GES and NEO, Torque Freak has made a name for themselves as one of the go-to teams for the non-alien fast drivers. Expect to see them battling for podiums and wins regularly.
Possible (3-4 cars):
Fusion Racing (1 car): This new team is currently competing in the extremely competitive NEO Endurance Series and is possibly looking for another series where they can be more competitive in and battle for podiums and wins. It is unsure on where the team sits but they have shown interest in the series and class.
Geko Vortex Simracing (1-2 cars): Well known on iRacing and the multi-class scene for there colorful red, white, and blue designs, Geko Vortex Simracing is known to run the HPD whenever the opportunity arises. If an entry comes forth, they will be contenders every race.
Black Adder Motorsports (1 car): It is unsure what the plans are for the #67, #68, and #69 machines from Black Adder Motorsports but sources say the team is planning on a minimum of one, max of three entries into the championship. It is still unknown as to what class they will be running but DGFX Racing thinks at most two in one class, and the third car would be in the Prototype class.
GT
Registered (7 cars):
RoadBasterds (2 cars): Returning to the series in 2017, the former named team of OnlineSimracing.de has expanded from a 2 car effort at the end of last season to a 4 car effort for 2017. Expanding from one GT3 car to two in 2017 as well as a switch in manufacture from BMW to Mercedes, keep an eye on this team as they narrowly missed out on both the West and Overall GT Championship in 2016.
Hammer Down Racing (1 car): What was known to be the most consistent Audi in the field last year, Hammer Down Racing will again join up with their #22 Audi R8 LMS to try and capture the elusive championship they have shown the pace for. As long as the Audi can get the consistency down every race, they will be a championship contender.
Speedtek Performance USA (1 car): New to the championship for 2017, Speedtek Performance are piloting their Mercedes AMG GT3 this season. While it is unsure on their pace, the all American five driver entry is looking to mean business and put on a good performance week in and week out.
vApex Racing Group (2 cars): 2016 Overall Champions, vApex Racing Group is downsizing their effort from three cars to two and running both in one class. They are also making the switch from the Audi to the Mercedes which was in works towards the end of 2016. The vApex guys are always a force to recon with and are bringing the big guns to play as they have brought on Sage Karam as a driver for the season. Definitely ones to watch out for.
SweetSpot Racing (1 car): The fastest Mercedes team of 2016 are back for 2017 with an unaltered all Austrian line up. While they had the front running speed last year, trouble kept the team from performing well. If they can get over the incident woes, SweetSpot Racing could be championship contenders.
Possible (4-7 cars):
49 Motorsports (1-2 cars): While it is still unconfirmed, sources say that last years GT West and Overall Champions are looking into entering at least one of their BMW Z4's into the championship to defend their title. Always front running in the BMW crowd, you can never count out the #49 machine let alone last years champs.
Mad Cow Racing (1 car): Rumor has it that while their infamous "Buttercup" was unable to make it into the BES Pro series, Mad Cow Racing are looking for a new series to run the BMW. If they pull the trigger, you better believe you will see some of the best BMW drivers on iRacing.
Black Adder Motorsports (1-2 cars): It is unsure what the plans are for the #67, #68, and #69 machines from Black Adder Motorsports but sources say the team is planning on a minimum of one, max of three entries into the championship. It is still unknown as to what class they will be running but DGFX Racing thinks at most two in one class.
Team Vikings (1-2 cars): Known mostly for the iRacing King of Vikings race held every year for the Scandinavian club, the rumor mill has it that the team is possibly looking to enter 1-2 cars but unsure as to what class. If they do join and bring their ace drivers, they will be a force to recon with.
GTC
Registered (11 cars):
RoadBasterds (1 car): The final entry for the RoadBasterds camp is in the new Porsche GT3 Cup Car. Highly anticipated by the team, RoadBasterds are looking forward to taking delivery of the new machine and putting some miles on the car.
KPR Simracing (1 car): While new to this championship, both of the drivers are not new to driving a rear engine car with a lot of time spent in either the Ruf Track or C-Spec. We are unsure as to the speed of the team but they could turn out to be the sleeper entry of the class.
SimRC.de #799 (1 car): Out of the current entries probably one of the teams with the most seat time in the current Ruf C-Spec, the infamous yellow and black now Porsche is definitely going to be a force to recon with in the championship.
BerlinSimSport #87 (1 car): What appears to the be the main team for the BerlinSimSport camp based on previous history, the German team could be potential spoilers of podium finishes and even wins.
Puffin Racing (1 car): One of the current two American teams in the class, expect to see the famous Gulf livery on this 911. No slouch to GT racing either, Puffin Racing could be the underdog story we are all hoping for.
Vendaval Simracing White (1 car): Currently running in the HPD in the NEO Endurance Series, last years Prototype entry in DGFX will be making the switch to the new Porsche for this upcoming season. Look for the Vendaval 911 to be battling for podiums in the coming races.
Screw Loose Motorsports (1 car): New to DGFX in 2017, these are looking to be one of the possible upset teams to the regulars. With lots of speed and experience in the C-Spec, as long as the car doesn't fall apart from a loose screw, they will be a team to look out for.
Bad Cactus Racing (2 cars): The only 2 car entry so far in the class, Bad Cactus Racing is making the switch from their Mercedes to the Porsche and expanding from a single car. While just out of reach of victories towards the end of 2016, Bad Cactus Racing should be contenders for podiums each race.
Torque Freak Racing (1 car): As the team currently winds down their championship in GES and will soon put the cover on their trusted C-Spec for possibly the final time, Torque Freak are looking forward to breaking out the new Porsche. Regulars in the C-Spec, the team should be able to come to grips with the new car relatively quick.
FitzSty Motorsport (1 car): With plenty of experience in the GT3 machinery, the UK based team is taking a new journey on their first rear engine car this season in DGFX. While unsure, we are thinking that consistency might be their biggest woe in the season to ensure good results.
